New 2nd cable! Notice to Beach and Water Users at Hampton 28/29th June
Subject to suitable weather conditions, Vattenfall will be carrying out foreshore cabling work on Friday 19th June. As a result of this work, the foreshore area immediately to the East of Hampton Pier will be restricted to the general public for a period of approximately 24 hours (up to 48 hours), commencing approximately Sunday 28th June. Access to the pier and to Hampton Pier Car park will also be curtailed during the cable pull in works.
During these works it will be necessary for the cable vessel BoDo Installer to work on the foreshore to carry out the export cable installation. During low tide the vessel will land on the mud and be clearly visible to beach and water users. Anchors will be positioned away from the vessel and buoyed for identification, but water users should take care to avoid this area due to anchor wires that will lie between the buoys and the vessel. Anchor wires will also be brought to the beach and held in place by excavators.
A beach master has been employed and Vattenfall Project Team will on hand to answer questions or deal with any issues raised in connection with this work.
Canterbury City Council’s Foreshore Services have been notified and are working with Vattenfall to ensure the safety of the general public and are also happy to answer any questions or concerns they may have during the course of these works.
You may too have noticed the jack up platform has arrived back with enough Towers, blades and nacelles to construct 3 of the much larger new turbines.
